Call For Submissions

Thesiger & Company ('Thesigers') invites prospective contributors to its flagship publication, Current Intelligence, to submit essays for consideration for the Fall 2012 (South China Sea) or the Winter 2013 (The Arctic) issues.

FALL 2012: THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

The Fall 2012 issue of Current Intelligence will be dedicated to the geopolitics of the South China Sea region. Potential contributors are encouraged to submit original, well researched analytical essays on any relevant subject of current significance, but specifically dealing with any one of the following major themes: territorial disputes, maritime governance, defence and security, environmental issues, natural resource extraction, regional cooperation, trade and industry, and technology and communication. Topics and themes listed here should be considered illustrative rather than definitive.

Selected essays will be published in the Fall 2012 issue of Current Intelligence. Only the authors of selected essays will be contacted.

Submission guidelines:

  • Deadline for submissions is 10 November 2012;
  • Essays must be 1450-1500 words in length;
  • Essays must use British English;
  • Written in a clear, engaging style devoid of unexplained technical language or other jargon;
  • Sources should be cited in text; no hyperlinks will be accepted, and footnotes should be kept to an absolute minimum;
  • Submissions are to be accompanied by an author bio sketch not exceeding 100 words in length, indicating affiliations and major publications or other significant achievements;
  • Submissions are to be emailed to desk@thesigers.com, as attachments in MS Word format. The subject line of the email must state the following: "Submission: Fall 2012 issue of Current Intelligence". Contained in the body of the email should be an introductory note providing a very brief summary of the essay (one or two crisp sentences will suffice), author's qualifications, and full contact information.
